Mumbai Police Recover Stolen Property Worth Rs 2.31 Crore in Major Drive Across 7 Stations
Mumbai Police recover stolen and missing property worth Rs 2.31 crore, including 238 mobile phones and 19 motorcycles, in a special drive across seven South Mumbai police stations. Around 150 citizens receive their belongings.
The special recovery campaign was conducted under the guidance of senior Mumbai Police officials, including the Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Additional Commissioner of Police (South Regional Division) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1).
The recovery operation covered seven police stations: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Marine Drive, Azad Maidan, M.R.A. Marg, Dongri and Sir J.J. Marg.
During the drive, police crime detection teams relied on technical data analysis through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, along with confidential intelligence inputs, to identify and trace stolen and missing belongings. The operation resulted in the recovery of 238 mobile phones, 19 stolen motorcycles and several other valuable items, taking the estimated total value of the recovered property to Rs 2.31 crore.
Following the recovery operation, Mumbai Police organised a special restitution ceremony at Prerna Hall, Azad Maidan, on November 6, 2026, to return the belongings to their rightful owners.
Around 150 citizens attended the ceremony, where the recovered mobile phones, motorcycles and other valuables were formally handed over by Manish Kalwaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone 1).
The citizens who received their belongings expressed gratitude to Mumbai Police for tracing and recovering their lost and stolen property.
The recovery drive highlights the role of technical investigation, the CEIR portal and confidential intelligence networks in tracing missing and stolen assets across multiple locations. The return of property worth Rs 2.31 crore marks the outcome of the coordinated operation involving all seven police stations in South Mumbai's Zone 1.
